Storm Damage FAQs
1. What should I do if I suspect that I have suffered a loss from wind and hail damage?
If you suspect wind and hail damage to your property, contact us immediately. An A+ Roofing claims specialist will conduct a thorough, complimentary inspection of your home. Should temporary or emergency repairs be necessary, we will arrange to secure your property to prevent further damage. During the inspection, our specialist will provide a detailed report of their findings and recommend the next steps.
2. Who should I call to report the damage?
If you have already filed a claim with your insurance company, notify your A+ Roofing representative. We will assist you throughout the claims reporting process. Sometimes, a claim number is assigned immediately; other times, there may be a waiting period. Once you receive your claim number, inform your A+ Roofing representative so they can help streamline the process and ensure a smooth handling of your claim.
3. Should I let my contractor see my building estimate?
Yes, sharing your building estimate with your A+ Roofing representative is important. This allows us to ensure that the scope of work covers all damages and meets your needs at a price agreeable to both your insurance company and the contractor. Most insurance adjusters appreciate working with professional roofing contractors who can help finalize claims accurately and efficiently.
4. I have received my building estimate from my insurance company and I do not agree with the scope of work in the estimate and/or the adjuster’s assessment of damages. What should I do?
During a catastrophe, insurance adjusters may handle multiple inspections daily, potentially overlooking some details. If you disagree with your estimate or the adjuster’s assessment, remember that our representatives take the time to provide an accurate damage assessment. We use Xactimate, the same software all major insurance companies use, ensuring you receive the maximum indemnifications allowed by your policy. If discrepancies arise between our estimate and your insurance company’s, we will help you request a re-inspection or send a supplemental letter with evidence of additional damages.
5. Why is my mortgage company included on my check?
Your mortgage company is listed on the check as they hold a lien on your property and have a vested interest in ensuring that repairs are completed properly. Often, the mortgage company will require an inspection after repairs are done to confirm that the property has been restored to its original condition or better. This process protects both the homeowner and the mortgage company, ensuring the property’s value is maintained.
