Summer has arrived but the weather seems to be taking a turn for the worse. Several storms are posing threats to strike Chicago hard, bringing heavy rains with them.
In fact, heavy downpours have already started, disrupting several flights at the Midway International Airport, according to an article on the Chicago Tribune:
The rain storms that passed through Chicago today have resulted in hundreds of flight cancellations and delays of up to three hours, officials said this evening.
As of 8:45 p.m., Chicago Department of Aviation officials said that the storms are responsible for the cancellations of 580 flights at O’Hare International Airport.
Delays of up to 90 minutes is being reported at O’Hare, officials said.
At Midway International Airport, delays have reached up to three hours, officials said. It was not immediately known how many flights had been canceled at Midway.
Officials are recommending that anyone leaving on a flight or expecting to pick up anyone at either airport.
Given that the rain is strong enough to delay and cancel flights, it may disrupt other entities as well like schools and offices. Such instances brought by the harsh elements are signaling that you should prepare your home before it’s too late.
When preparing your home against severe weather, the first thing to do is to conduct a quick inspection of all the nooks and crannies as well as the major components of your house for any sustained damage. Note that even minor damage can potentially turn into major issues.
Here are a few things to check when conducting an inspection:
- Are there any rotting or missing shingles on the roof?
- Are there any cracks or breaks on the window panes?
- Are there any leaks inside the attic or house or even just suspicious stains on ceilings or walls?
As the biggest component of any home, your roof is particularly vulnerable to the changing weather conditions. That frequent abuse might have already taken its toll. And when that happens, your home doesn’t stand a chance against further downpours. Once you’ve finished inspecting, it’s time for action. For your roof repair in Chicago, call A+ Roofing.
